he Blues have won our four previous knockout ties against Italian sides:

1965/66 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup v Roma, 4-1 on aggregate
1965/66 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup v AC Milan, won on toss of coin after a 4-4 draw on aggregate
1997/98 Cup Winners' Cup v Vicenza, 3-2 on aggregate after being 0-1 down after the first leg away.
2008/09 Champions League v Juventus, 3-2 on aggregate

Chelsea have won eight of the 12 European ties in which we had a first leg deficit to retrieve at Stamford Bridge, the most recent defeat coming in the 2003/04 Champions League semi-finals against Monaco (1-3 away, 2-2 home). However, two teams have travelled to London on the back of 2-1 home wins in the competition in recent seasons. Barcelona (2004/05 round of 16) and Fenerbahçe (2007/08 quarter-finals), and Chelsea won 4-2 and 2-0 respectively to progress on each occasion.

We have reached the semi-finals in five of the last six Champions League campaigns and the final once in 2008.

The Blues have won 54 of the 78 European games at Stamford Bridge. Only Lazio (1999/2000 1-2), Besiktas (2003/04 0-2) and Barcelona (2005/06 1-2) have defeated us.

Chelsea's win on penalties against Manchester Utd in this season's Community Shield is our only shoot-out victory in seven attempts.

MILESTONES
Chelsea have reached 100 goals in all competitions in the second quickest time in our history. In 1960/61 we achieved it in 40 games, three quicker than this campaign.

Frank Lampard needs four more goals to equal joint third highest scorers in our history Peter Osgood and Roy Bentley on 150.

Didier Drogba is set to make his 250th Chelsea appearance in all competitions.

José Mourinho's Champions League record with Inter is 15 games, five wins, six draws and four defeats.

Inter have fared well when winning the first leg of a Uefa competition at home; of the 41 occasions the Italian side have initially won in Milan, they have recorded 37 overall victories. That includes three ties where Inter won 2-1 at home in the first match although the last time they triumphed by that scoreline, in the 2005/06 Champions League quarter-finals against Villarreal, they lost 0-1 away and went out on away goals. Inter have lost in the first knockout round in the last three seasons, being eliminated by English opposition for the last two years. At this stage last term Man Utd beat them 2-0 on aggregate after the first leg in Milan ended goalless, with Liverpool winning 2-0 at Anfield and 1-0 at San Siro in 2007/08.
