On Monday the Official Chelsea Website catches up with the expert summariser from the club's radio partner, BBC London 94.9, for analysis of the weekend's game.

Former Blues favourite Clive Walker was the man at Ewood Park for Sunday's 1-1 draw and he saw a side that left too much to chance.

Chelsea started off in the right frame of mind, very, very bright, and looked good in the first 15 to 20 minutes, especially down the right-hand side. That exploited a weakness Blackburn had on their left where they had El-Hadji Diouf who did no defensive duties whatsoever and Martin Olsson who was completely out of position at times. So we broke down that side of the pitch quite often and looked very dangerous, and of course our goal came from there. Nicolas Anelka was very bright in the first 20 minutes and when after the disappointment of the midweek defeat the early goal comes, it is disappointing the team didn't push on. Being in a great position and not taking advantage could be the difference between winning the league and not winning it.

As the first half wound down the team began to lose a little belief in what they were trying to do. As a player you are content to go in at half-time 1-0 up but you think to yourself is that enough. You know Sam Allardyce is going to get into his side, he is going to say look, it is 1-0, we are not playing particularly well but we are still in it. Blackburn have some big units and they can cause problems, particularly at dead balls. They have a long throw from Morten Gamst Pedersen and Christopher Samba is huge and difficult to mark so you never know what might happen. A score of 1-0 wasn't good enough with the domination we had.

At the time Branislav Ivanovic going off didn't feel like a major blow. Paulo Ferreira could switch to right back and Yury Zhirkov who came on has pace and ability to get forward from left back, but it didn't happen. We were playing very narrow anyway and you have to get the full backs forward. Ivanovic tried to when he was on, Ferreira does it at times but Zhirkov is an enigma at the moment. Maybe he is more tentative when he plays at left back than when he is further forward, concerned about his defensive duties. You can understand that but it is something he has to get used to very quickly.

I didn't see any blame for Ross Turnbull for the Blackburn goal. There had been a couple of balls drifted in from their right-hand side over the top of Ferreira and Pedersen got there the time before the goal. That was a warning and when the goal was scored you felt Ivanovic would have done better with those two balls, but El-Hadji Diouf is mistakenly thought of as not being a good header of the ball. His technique is excellent in the air and from that position from a good delivery with a free header, it was always going to be a goal. Turnbull did okay on the day.

I was happy with the formation played. People talk a lot about formations in the English game whereas somewhere like Spain it is much more flexible. In England we are rigid with our views and Chelsea are trying to get away from that and be more fluid. Florent Malouda has had a super season and it is important to get him on the ball in an attacking area. The further we get him forward the better it is for everybody.

Chelsea had a period near the end when we really put them under pressure but it didn't drop for us. Deco coming on with over 15 minutes to go was okay but during that period of pressure another substitute such as Joe Cole or Daniel Sturridge could have helped, especially as we had had that game midweek. You not only get tired legs, you get tired minds.

The main disappointment is that we allowed Blackburn to get back in the game. We were totally in the ascendancy first half but did not drive home our advantage.
