First half
Kick off: Chelsea
3 Shot Lampard sends the ball skimming past the post after collecting an Anelka pull back on the edge of the box. That was very nearly the opener.
11 Shot Lampard drills a freekick low into the wall from 25 yards out. Portsmouth fail to clear immediately and Chelsea nearly have further chances on goal.
13 Shot Lampard again, this time he send the ball ricocheting off the post from 30 yards out, phenomenal strike. Portsmouth can thank the woodwork for that one.
14 Shot Anelka forces a good save from James with a low shot from the left flank as Chelsea really begin to pressure the Portsmouth area.
20 Shot Drogba finishes off an unselfish move from all the Blues as Ivanovic feeds Lampard, he taps to Malouda who knocks on for the Ivorian. Two successive Drogba shots are both blocked to deny Chelsea the opener.
21 Save Cech is on fire as his lightning reactions deny Piquionne, who tries to deflect a Boateng shot into the net from only a foot off the line.
26 Shot Kalou has an open goal but smashes a shot onto the bar from five yards out after Malouda does the hard work on the left and launching a cross to the awaiting Ivorian.
29 Header Terry is denied by the bar this time as he leaps high to head a Drogba freekick over James and back off the woodwork. Portsmouth breathe yet another sigh of relief.
35 Abused Boateng is shown the yellow for a late and tough challenge on Ballack, which leave the German receiving treatment to his ankle.
37 Shot Drogba is denied by the bar now. This is unbelievable as a 30 yard freekick is pushed onto the woodwork by James and appears, in the replay, to cross the line as it bounces down. The referee plays on and the game remains goalless
41 Shot Drogba watches a close range effort ricochet off the post. That's five chances to have been denied by woodwork now. Is James the luckiest keeper alive?
43 Chelsea substitution Belletti comes on to replace Ballack in midfield.
44 Chances Ivanovic pulls back for a Kalou scissor kick, then he tries to head the deflected shot over the line before the linesman calls for goalkick. Chelsea are so close!
