Saturday's lunchtime kick-off gives Chelsea the chance to progress in the FA Cup and to restore some local pride following the league match at Loftus Road back in October. Andre Villas-Boas is hoping for a match showcasing all that is good in football.

Squad News
Frank Lampard and John Mikel Obi are ruled out of the game. Lampard trained with the squad today (Friday) as he recovers from a calf injury and might be fit for the match away to Swansea on Tuesday. Mikel remains out with the muscle injury sustained at Tottenham before Christmas.

Branislav Ivanovic, who was injured in that same game at White Hart Lane but was back on the bench at Norwich, is fully recovered. Gary Cahill, who sat in the stands at Carrow Road will be involved in the match, either as a starter or a substitute.

The players have spent most of the week preparing in Mallorca.

'It was not a break in the sense of stopping work, it was a change of routines from mainly working in Cobham,' reported Villas-Boas. 'We decided to do something different, nothing abnormal, nothing that hasn't been done in England.

'We were lucky, we managed to get good conditions and facilities and we trained very hard for this week's game.'

On Facing QPR

The Chelsea manager believe the players are fully aware of their responsibilities going into this west London derby and he will not need to speak to them any more than his normal pre-match talk.

'Loftus Road is an environment of great passion and great ambition and I just want it to be a traditional football game,' Villas-Boas said. 'There is responsibility in every game for the players and they know what they have to do.

'There is extra responsibility for everybody, not just the players but the media as well.

'The environment was outstanding the last time we played at QPR and I expect it to be the same.'

John Terry is in the squad and Villas-Boas has no concerns about selecting his captain. On the subject of whether Terry and Anton Ferdinand will shake hands before the game, he hopes that will be the case.

'The game is based on good values more than anything else and these two players should continue to promote those values as long as they can,' he said.

The fact Villas-Boas no longer considers Chelsea as challengers for the league title adds to the feeling that Saturday's is a highly important game.

'The FA Cup is one of the most prestigious trophies, the second most important domestic trophy in England and the one with the biggest tradition. We have a will to go as far as we can and try to win the trophy.'

In other news
Villas-Boas reports it unlikely that Willian will be signed from Shakhtar Donetsk this month.

'He is an interesting player but I don't think we are going to progress with our interest,' our Portuguese boss said of the Brazilian player, 'because of work permit, because of price valuation and because the fact that our project next year is more important than the actual project at the moment, Not that Willian doesn't have those characteristics for the future but we are betting a lot on what we can build on next year.'

On Genk midfielder Kevin de Bruyne, Villas Boas explained:

'He is a player that the club has scouted for quite some time, and was interested in for quite some time. I am a manager who respects club policies as well and when the club has to plan for the future, being with this manager and any other manager, I think Kevin is an extremely interesting player and is a good bet if the club finishes the situation.

'Regarding signing a forward player, we looked at the options and clubs are asking for a lot of money. There is not a lot of money around at the moment, neither in society nor in football clubs. We have to take the responsibility of making correct market judgements accordingly and the January transfer market is always inflated.'

The manager also discounted reports that Jose Bosingwa may be sold and confirmed that an option to extend the player's contract for next season will be exercised.
