Stamford Bridge continues to be a venue of choice for major events away from the pitch. Recently a host of English legends from a different sport assembled in the Great Hall in the West Stand when rugby player Jason Robinson held his testimonial dinner there.

Over 600 guests sat down to a three-course meal inside what is one of central London's largest venues. Actor Neil Morrissey hosted the evening with entertainment in the form of an electric stand-up performance from impressionist Rory Bremner, followed by an auction of sports memorabilia.

Former England rugby captains Martin Johnson and Martin Corrie joined Robinson while World Cup winning rugby coach, and Chelsea fan, Sir Clive Woodward also attended.

'It's a tribute night for Jason Robinson who's been a world champion player and probably the ultimate convert from rugby league to union,' said Johnson as he looked out onto the Stamford Bridge pitch.

'The guy was a lethal weapon, an incredible talent with acceleration, agility and power, so a hell of a player,' he added.

It was the second time that Robinson has visited the home of Chelsea Football Club this season after taking part in a question and answer session alongside former England scrum-half Matt Dawson last year.
