SEASON TICKETS ON SALE; TICKETING POLICY RELEASED
Season ticket renewals for the 2008/09 season begin today (Monday) as Chelsea Football Club unveils our new non-corporate ticketing policy.
The club has taken the unprecedented step of freezing ticket prices for Premier League matches and Uefa Champions League (UCL) knockout stage matches for the third consecutive season.
Also revealed is the introduction of a new discount scheme for UCL group matches at Stamford Bridge next season.
The price freeze, and discounts, covers non-corporate season tickets and matchday tickets for members, juveniles and senior citizens for 2008/09.
The third successive year of freezing prices also gives a net reduction of approximately 10 per cent when inflation is taken into account. The current, and extremely successful, policy of discounted prices for domestic cup matches will also continue.
All UCL group matches will now be priced the same as FA Cup matches, £25 for adults and £12 for juveniles and senior citizens for season ticket holders and members.
Chelsea FC will also continue our policy offering free tickets to all registered disabled season-ticket holders and members.
No more than the current 25,000 non-hospitality season tickets will be sold. This means we will accept renewals only and should we not have a 100 per cent take up, new season tickets will be offered to club members on a loyalty point basis.
'Announcing the freeze for the third consecutive season demonstrates that we listen to and are sensitive to the views of our supporters,' said chief executive Peter Kenyon.
'We appreciate the economic and other demands on them and value their loyalty. As well as the price freeze we will be continuing with the very popular policy of discounted prices for domestic cup matches and bringing all UCL group games in line with that regardless of opposition.
'This policy has ensured that new supporters, more families and children have had the opportunity to come to Stamford Bridge over the last two seasons.'
The club has also announced a series of other changes and alterations to the ticketing policy for the 2008/09 season, the most significant of which are:
? Season ticket holders and members can purchase extra tickets for away domestic matches. This was decided in conjunction with the Fans Forum
? Loyalty points for all home and away matches will continue
? More transparency over selling details for cup finals
? New ski data ticketing system coming in for faster stadium access
? 95 per cent of tickets now being sold online with remaining 5 per cent being sold from the box office and call centre. This will apply for all home and away matches
? UK away scheme will be payable over eight monthly instalments, again decided in conjunction with the Fans Forum
? Season-ticket holders will have six days to purchase their own seat for Champions League matches. The seventh and final day will remain on sale to season ticket holders but there will be no seats held. This will allow season ticket holders (who have not purchased or have to move) the ability to purchase other seats in the stadium that fellow season ticket holders have not purchased before they go on sale to members.
The policy was drawn up following regular dialogue with the Fans Forum and demonstrates the club's commitment to listen to supporters before deciding on policy.
