PLAYER OF THE YEAR NAMING NEARS
With anticipation building toward tonight's Chelsea Player of the Year awards at Stamford Bridge, the evening's host, Jeff Stelling, has speculated on the winner of the main prize.
The Sky Sports presenter, who recently hosted the PFA awards and Football League awards, reckons there are too many candidates for an easy selection.
'There is so much choice,' he says.
'Petr Cech has had a fantastic season since he got back from injury. Ricardo Carvalho has been absolutely brilliant again; Joe Cole, particularly the first-half of the season was absolutely terrific and there's been Didier's goals as well.
'Frank Lampard again, as in every season, is a candidate. And I have missed Michael Essien who is a monster in the nicest possible way. He has been senstational.
'You always enjoy it more when it is over,' Stelling says of his own personal role in the evening. You have to make sure to get things right and hope it goes well'
As well as the main award, there will be others handed out including Young Player of the Year, Players' Player of the Year and Goal of the Season.
Both Chelsea TV and Chelsea Plus will offer full, live coverage of tonight's event.
Coverage starts at 8.30pm when former Blue Tommy Langley joins presenter Gigi Salmon on Chelsea's official television channel.
There will be exclusive previews and interviews with the players and celebrities in attendance.
Jason Cundy will also be backstage to give Chelsea TV viewers exclusive footage from behind the scenes as he grabs players for interviews while presenter Neil Barnett mingles around the tables to speak to your favourite Blues as the event unfolds.
