WRIGHT-PHILLIPS RELAYS HIS KNOWLEDGE
Shaun Wright-Phillips' dedication to football cannot be faulted and with Ian Wright as his father and mentor he was destined to become a star.
But now the Chelsea winger wants to share his expertise and experience in the game with up and coming youngsters in the Shaun Wright-Phillips Football Academy.
This is the brainchild of the England international and has been set up to provide youngsters with the same facilities and opportunities that allowed him to go on and represent his country.
Aimed at boys and girls between the ages of five and 12 years, the Shaun Wright-Phillips Academy offers intensive week-long courses led by FA qualified coaches.
Children can increase their speed and stamina while learning the art of defending, attacking skills and effective passing, before moving onto dead ball skills and the Wright-Phillips dribble.
'It's my aim through the academy to provide boys and girls with the opportunity to play football in a fun and safe environment,' said Wright-Phillips.
'It's great to give something back to the sport which has provided me with so many great experiences.
'Receiving coaching from qualified coaches is vital to any player's development and while I'm not looking for the next Shaun Wright-Phillips, it's great to see kids improving their skills and playing football with a smile on their face,' he added.
The next series of courses began this week and will be taking place across five different London sites - The Brixton Ferndale Centre, Mulberry School in east London, Rosemary Gardens in Islington, Turnham Green and the Westminster Sport Centre on Harrow Road.
