BLUES BACK FOR CLIC SARGENT
Kerry Dixon and John Hollins took up managerial roles at Stamford Bridge last Friday, as they ran two opposing teams for charity.
The two former Blues were taking part in CLIC Sargent's pitch event where fans bid for the opportunity to play on the hallowed turf under the watchful eyes of the ex-Chelsea men.
CLIC Sargent is Chelsea's national charity partner and helps to raise money to care for children and young people with cancer and their families.
Dixon's side left the field 2-0 up at half-time, but surrendered their lead during the second half as Hollins' team went on to win 3-2.
'How they came back is beyond me, but nevertheless they did,' said Dixon, who played under Hollins at the Bridge in the 1980s.
'It was good fun though, the lads were alright, but there were some good lads there and they played well.
'But John is a seasoned campaigner and he must be some sort of genius to come back and beat me from 2-0 down.
'But it's all for a great cause as well.
'I also played in a game against the Chelsea Ladies to finish the day off,' added Chelsea's second highest goal-scorer of all time.
As well as the individual 11-a-side game, there was a six-a-side tournament with each team managed by a former player or celebrity. There was also a penalty shoot-out competition against Peter 'The Cat' Bonetti.
The tournament was then followed with a three-course dinner, speeches and the presentation of various trophies, medals and awards. There was also an auction of Chelsea memorabilia to help raise extra funds for CLIC Sargent.
