Last day in Seattle and without wishing to prejudge Pasadena, Old Blue Eyes reckons the Chelsea party will miss this place a little. Not least the view out the hotel window from the dining area where plenty of time has been spent, a mountain range dividing the blue of the sky and the blue of Elliott Bay on the edge of which the hotel sits.

Training in the fantastic facilities made available has been smooth, certainly smoother than for next opponents Inter who had boots stolen from their training centre down in Los Angeles.

That little snippet was announced by our host from Seattle Sounders to a gathering in the team hotel to celebrate Chelsea's visit, with that lovely view in the background.

With both Chelsea and Sounders players present, Old Blue Eyes ignored the fact that he once scored in an FA Cup Final against us and had a few words with Freddie Ljungberg, mainly about what it had been like playing in direct opposition to our own Ashley Cole so many times in training in their former lives.

Quick feet, Ljungberg said was the key to Ash's game, both in deftness of movement and running speed. The ability to stick with the fastest of players makes him the ultimate defender in that position the former Arsenal midfielder reckoned, which combined with the comfort beyond the halfway line of someone who was a striker as a kid, leads to the complete package.

On Saturday's game, the Sounders' big star was disappointed with the result as he considered his team had started the game well, only to make two mistakes that both led to Chelsea goals.

But the Sounders match is in the past and the Serie A champions await.

The Chelsea players were mid-training when Inter opened the World Football Challenge tournament against Club América down in California.

Some Blues staff were watching on television however and Old Blue Eyes also caught some incidents. Ricardo Quaresma, late of this parish, is back with his owners and played the first 55 minutes before being replaced by Ibrahimovic.

Mourinho lost Sulley Muntari to injury after only half-an-hour and this game came too early for Inter's latest signing, Brazil captain Lucio. Interesting to see them acquire a centre-back in light of José's recent interest in our own Riccy.

His side looked in need of reinforcement at the back against the Mexicans as they conceded a volley from inside the penalty box following a normally-flighted corner.

Inter scored from a corner also and with the game ending 1-1, competition rules meant a penalty shoot-out, decided in Club América's favour when Patrick Vieira skied one.

Inter keeper Belec looked to have stopped a penalty but was judged to have moved early.

It was a decision that didn't appear to go down too well with Mourinho. Our former boss is not taking this tournament lightly, and neither will Chelsea.
