>>A HERO My dad, Stephan, because he is my dad - everyone looks up to their father and it's normal for me to listen to him. He gave me good support, he gave me advice, drove me to training and everything.

>>A GOOD CAUSE UNAIDS - I am an ambassador for them and I promote awareness for the charity.

>>A STARK REALITY When I was 14 I had a best friend called Kevin and he played with me in a football team. We did everything together and played very well together. He was my partner on the pitch. But he had an accident on the pitch, there was a blood clot on his brain and he was in a coma for a short time. When he woke up his body was paralysed - he couldn't move and it took him over a year to recover fully. He had to stop playing football professionally and although he can do everything today, his football career was over. This was very hard for him, his family and for me as his friend - I saw what can happen even when you are young.

>>A COACH I learned something from every coach but Christoph Daum was one of my best. I had him as manager in my younger years and it was a good age for me to learn from him.

>>FIRST GOAL This would have been in the third division for Chemnitz. I can remember my first in the Bundesliga better - that was against Hansa Rostock for Kaiserslautern.

>>FIRST TROPHY I won the league with Kaiserslautern in 1998. We came from the second division and won the title in our first season, which had never been done before and hasn't been done after. I made my first move to Kaiserslautern in the summer and we won the title in my first season there too.

>>I PLAYED WITH HIM Emerson in Leverkusen. He was a very good player and we had a good relationship on the pitch - I learned a lot from his playing style. He was a complete player.

>>FIRST CAR It was a Volkswagen Golf II when I was 18. I had to buy it but my parents supported me with a bit of money.

>>FIRST MISTAKE When I was in the first year at school I had a book that the teachers wrote comments in. One of them wrote something that was really bad about me and I was scared to go home to my parents with it. So I threw it in the bin, but then I got scared because your parents have to sign it and I went back and took it out of the rubbish. But when I showed them it was OK - I just remember thinking "I have to be a man about this!"

>>A REASON TO BE PROUD I have three kids today and now they are realising more about football. So when they see me on the TV and I score a goal or something, they are proud of me when I come home. This makes me feel proud as well.

>>I COULD HAVE BEEN A CONTENDER In East Germany they used to measure the kids to see what sport their bodies were good for - sport was very important for East Germany, to show the outside world. They did this to me when I was six and said I had to go to speed skating, but I said "No, no - I want to play football!" But I can also play volleyball very well. At school, I did my sport exams at the end of my last year and I got a better grade at volleyball than football - in football I got grade 1 and in volleyball I got 1+!

>>GOAL OF THE MONTH Ashley's goal at West Ham because he hadn't scored for a long time and it wasn't easy because of the angle.

>>ASSIST OF THE MONTH Probably Lamps for my goal at West Ham, with the outside of his boot.

>>SAVE OF THE MONTH I'll take Carlo's save against Olympiacos here - it was good reactions near the end of the game.
