Gaël Kakuta, one of the key players behind Chelsea's run to the FA Youth Cup Final, will play in another final on Friday after France's semi-final win in the European Under 17s Championships.
The attacking midfielder, who has just completed his first season at Chelsea, successfully converted a penalty in a shoot-out win over host nation Turkey.
The match had finished 1-1 after extra-time, Turkey opening the scoring in the 30th minute of the first-half after Kakuta had struck the crossbar with a fierce left-foot drive from the edge of the area 18 minutes in.
Playing on the left-hand side, the Chelsea 16-year-old was frequently involved in France's attempts to draw level which eventually bore fruit with 12 minutes to go, Lens defender Thimothée Kolodziecziak finishing from a tight angle.
Kakuta could have won it in extra-time, two shots going wide, the second after a penetrating run. However he confidently planted his penalty into the bottom right-hand corner to make the shoot-out score 2-2, both sides having missed their opener. France eventually won by four penalties to three.
The final will see the French take on holders Spain, the two having drawn 3-3 in a group match earlier in the competition. The tournament has a record of highlighting emerging talent with Wayne Rooney, Cesc Fabregas and Barcelona's Bojan Krkic all selected the player of the tournament over the previous six years.
Friday's final kicks-off at 5.30pm.
