ALL ABOUT US

The opening week of training continues 6000 miles from Cobham and on their arrival in Bangkok, Petr Cech and Andre Schurrle began looking forward to the season ahead.

Speaking at the team's hotel before the first training session, Cech was asked whether the familiarity with Jose Mourinho's methods that some of the squad enjoy stands the team in good stead for the campaign ahead, compared with other league rivals who changed their managers in the summer. Andre Schurrle's thoughts were on following in another German international's footsteps.

'It is hard to say who will be the bigger force in the season before the season even starts,' replied Cech.

'The other clubs have great teams, they kept their players together and they improved by buying some new players. Although they have new managers the teams are the same and under a new manager they can have new motivation and they can be more dangerous.

'It is difficult to predict so I just want to speak about ourselves. We will work every day to improve and do the best we can.'

Schurrle was asked whether he feels under pressure coming into the same club where former Germany captain Michael Ballack played for four years.

'Pressure is always there,' he said, 'but I am Andre Schurrle and I want to work hard and I want to improve my qualities to be successful, so I will try my best and give everything I can for the club.'

Cech is already sensing the excitement in Thailand with the match to take place on Wednesday.

'Every time we come over you can see how much people care about football and the Premier League. We feel very comfortable here and they will support us everywhere we go.

'We are here to prepare for the season, and we want to play a good game against the Thai All-Stars. The last time we won here it was before the season when we won the FA Cup and the Champions League.

'I am very happy to be here too,' added Schurrle. 'It is my first time in Thailand with the team and my first tour with the team, and I am very excited to meet and see all the fans, and hopefully it will be a good match.'
