The hard work is well underway on our Asia tour, with Jose Mourinho leading his squad through a testing session in Bangkok on Saturday morning.
The heat and humidity of Friday night had only intensified, and so the players emerged for a 10am session in temperatures well above 30°C. Coach Rui Faria took the squad through a light warm up and some intensive fitness drills, featuring a team game which demanded extra concentration from the players, with one at a time called out of the action to complete a sprint circuit before rejoining his team-mates.
Adjacently, the goalkeepers were working hard under Christophe Lollichon, before everybody came together for a full-sided game, compressed into half a pitch. Space was at a premium, demanding extra thought and focus from players looking to find a pass.
The session lasted 90 minutes, with several players taking an ice bath, or a dip in the International School Bangkok's excellent swimming pool before boarding the coach back to the hotel.
There will be another session on Saturday evening, meaning the afternoon will be spent resting.
