Chelsea's work in the local community is central to any summer trip, and this year's Here to Play, Here to Stay tour will be no different.
With dedicated soccer schools already open in Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur, we will be opening a further facility before our arrival in Jakarta to support our efforts elsewhere across the region in Hong Kong, the Philippines, Japan, Korea and Singapore.
In Kuala Lumpur two years ago, five players, Ashley Cole, Nicolas Anelka, Salomon Kalou, Daniel Sturridge and Patrick van Aanholt lent their expertise to Chelsea Foundation coaches at our soccer school, which provides local youngsters with top-level coaching in a first-class environment.
Since then, the facility has gone from strength to strength and is also used as a hub by the official Chelsea supporters club in Malaysia.
On the same tour, Alex, Florent Malouda, Josh McEachran and Nathaniel Chalobah helped sponsors Samsung donate valuable sporting equipment to schools in Bangkok on Saturday afternoon, while also joining Foundation coaches to deliver their sessions to local children.
They spent time with the 50 kids as they played at a series of skills stations, working on their control, passing, dribbling and shooting, before signing autographs for the youngsters, who also received a Chelsea-branded Here to Play, Here to Stay goody bag containing water bottles and caps.
Samsung also donated basketballs, footballs and volleyballs as part of their on-going commitment to the cause.
Our soccer school in Bangkok opened in July 2012, just in time for the Chelsea youth team to visit on their mini-tour, and youth team coach Adi Viveash oversaw an open training session for watching coaches and players.
This year will be no different, with plenty more activity planned at all three destinations. This is the place to hear first what will be going on when Chelsea head to Asia in 2013.
