Chelsea have kept 1,506 clean sheets in 4,971 first team games.

Chelsea awards a clean sheet to the starting goalkeeper when the team does not concede in the complete match. Substitute goalkeepers were introduced in 1992 and on 14 occasions have shared a clean sheet. They are Carlo Cudicini 5, Henrique Hilario 2, Kevin Hitchcock 2, Ross Turnbull 2, Petr Cech 1, Ed de Goey 1, Lenny Pidgeley 1, Mark Schwarzer 1.

Prior to the 1992/93 season outfield players acted as emergency keepers in the event of an injury or dismissal. John Terry played as an emergency keeper following Petr Cech and Carlo Cudicini both being knock unconscious against Reading in October 2006. Two other outfield players, Reg Williams in 1949 and David Webb in 1972 shared a clean sheet when replacing an injured keeper.
