The Chelsea Under-21 side will play Middlesbrough for the fourth time this season this evening, when they kick-off at the Riverside at 7pm.

When the teams met at the same venue back in December, Dermot Drummy's side won 3-2 thanks to goals from Billy Clifford, Lewis Baker and Alex Davey. Boro, who had gone 3-0 behind, pulled two goals back by midway through the second half but Chelsea held on for a win.

At Brentford in September the visitors won 3-1 with Patrick Bamford the Chelsea scorer. Those games were before the Premier Under-21 league was reshuffled for Phase Two of the competition with results before Christmas placing Chelsea and Middlesbrough in the same group again.

At Stamford Bridge in January the result was again 3-2 in our favour, this time Chelsea coming back from a goal behind with two goals from Islam Feruz and Baker scoring a penalty.

Our Under-21s currently lie fourth in their table, one point and one place behind the north-east side.

Some of tonight's squad are likely to have been involved in the Under-19s' 4-1 victory over Juventus in the NextGen Series on Sunday.
