Sam Walker has today (Friday) joined Colchester United on loan until 19 January.

The goalkeeper returns to the Essex club having spent the second half of last season on loan there, when he kept nine clean sheets and played a crucial role in helping them preserve their League One status.

Walker, who joined the Blues from Millwall as a schoolboy, recently travelled to Asia as one of the three goalkeepers in Jose Mourinho's squad, but returned to the UK following the arrival of Mark Schwarzer.

The 21-year-old has previously enjoyed loan spells with Bristol Rovers, Yeovil Town, Northampton Town and Barnet.

He will link up with Chelsea team-mate Daniel Pappoe, who also joined Colchester on loan earlier this week.
