Billy Clifford will spend the rest of the season at Royal Antwerp having today (Thursday) been loaned to the Belgian second division club until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old, who can play in midfield or on the right flank, is a Chelsea Academy product and was part of our 2010 FA Youth Cup-winning side as well as a member of the squad who were National Premier Reserve League champions in 2010/11. He signed a new four-year contract in September 2011.

Twice an unused sub in first team games, Clifford has previously been on-loan at Colchester and Yeovil.

At Antwerp, he will be managed by someone well known to Chelsea fans, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink who has been in the role since last year.
