Many supporters walk through Brompton Cemetery immediately to the east of Stamford Bridge on matchdays
Chelsea FC, Friends of Brompton Cemetery and Royal Parks have co-produced a heritage trail booklet Final Whistle.
The booklet highlights the graves of several early Chelsea directors, including founder Gus Mears and first chairman Claude Kirby.
In 2015 another important Chelsea-related interment in Brompton Cemetery was discovered: that of Jack Whitley, who dedicated more than 30 years of his life to the club as goalkeeper then trainer, and who gave specific instructions to be buried near to Stamford Bridge when he died in 1955.
