Michael Ballack Top Five Chelsea Goals

A fan favourite among many Indian Blues, Michael Ballack’s time at Stamford Bridge was unforgettable, with the German winning a Premier League title and two FA Cups with Chelsea FC!

West Ham vs Chelsea, 2008
The German was known throughout his career to be one of the most clinical midfielders in football. Against a struggling West Ham side in 2008, he once again proved that. After being picked out by Frank Lampard’s brilliant cross Ballack struck a beautiful half-volley from the edge of the box to put us up by three on the day.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town, 2009
In the FA Cup vs Ipswich Town in 2009, Michael Ballack scored an unforgettable 25-yard curler to put us ahead in the tie and help send us through to the fifth round. Having already opened the scoring before Ipswich equalised, the midfield maestro made it a double on the day to put us ahead for good before Lampard sealed the win later in the game.

Chelsea vs FC Porto, 2007
Against a spirited Porto in 2007 Michael Ballack once again showed his class to help us through to the Champions League quarter-finals. With just 10 minutes left to play in the tie, Ballack’s perfect first-time volley from Shevchenko’s knockdown put us 3-2 up and on course for the quarter finals. An unforgettable night under the lights at Stamford Bridge!

Everton vs Chelsea, 2006
Another brilliant free-kick from Ballack, this time against Everton, saw us equalise at Goodison Park. Stood over the ball with Arjen Robben and Frank Lampard, it was the German who was given the responsibility and placed the free-kick to perfection to beat Tim Howard in goal. The equaliser from Ballack helped us claim the three points in a five-goal thriller against the Toffees.

Chelsea vs Manchester United, 2008
In a crucial game against top-of-the-table Manchester United, Michael Ballack proved to be the best player on the pitch! The German gave us the lead just before halftime, arriving in the box late to head home perfectly from Drogba’s cross. Then, after an equaliser from Wayne Rooney, Ballack made it two on the day with a sweetly struck penalty to win us the three points and move level at the top with Manchester United!
