Indian Blues MOTM - Chelsea vs Sevilla

As the Blues kicked off their 2020-21 Champions League campaign against Sevilla, we asked some Indian Blues for their man of the match picks.

Ayaan Sisodia, Jaipur

My man of the match has to be Thiago Silva. Thiago Silva’s performance was a reflection of what we had been missing in our defence. His leadership skills were evident throughout the game, as he held the defence together with minimal fuss. This performance should give everyone a massive confidence boost for the big game at the weekend.

Aman Phillips, Bangalore

I would pick Ben Chilwell as my man of the match. He was already one of the best left-backs in England last year with Leicester City, and he is only getting better as a Blue. Along with his defensive duties, he also put his attacking instincts to good use. I really loved his pin-point deliveries into the box.

Vinayak Karkera, Thane

Without a shadow of a doubt, Thiago Silva has to be the man of the match. His sheer presence on the pitch was enough to hold the defence together. He played a crucial role in securing the clean sheet, as we held the defending UEFA Europa League champions to a goalless draw. His defensive awareness and experience was one of the major reasons we were able to stop Sevilla from scoring.

Joshy Chellathu George, Tiruvalla

For me, Reece James was the best player on the pitch against Sevilla. Along with being a constant threat on the right, his defensive positioning was superb. Reece put in some excellent crosses and owned the right wing. The England international deserves to be the man of the match!

Hrutwik Palyekar, Bangalore

My man of the match has to be Thiago Silva. The composure he showed while taking on the Sevilla attack was simply amazing. His organisation and command at the back ensured that we kept a clean sheet against a high-intensity Sevilla side.
