Where to Watch Chelsea FC in the U.S. – September 23

Chelsea v Barnsley – Carabao Cup Round 3

Chelsea’s season is only nine days old, but already our focus switches from the Premier League to the domestic cup competitions.

The Blues take on Championship club Barnsley at Stamford Bridge in the third round of the Carabao Cup. This tournament, unlike the FA Cup, is limited to the 92 professional English teams. In the current truncated coronavirus campaign, we are already down to 32 sides, and all ties are single elimination matches.

Barnsley lost their opening two games in the second tier. They did have one season in the Premier League in 1997/98, but we beat them home and away. So it is likely manager Frank Lampard will rotate players and give squad members a chance, but he will be wary of overconfidence. The last time we faced the Tykes they defeated us 1–0 in the 2008 FA Cup.

Tune in this Wednesday to cheer on the Blues!
