New deal for Bamford

Patrick Bamford has today signed a new three-year contract with Chelsea.

The 21-year-old forward will continue his development by spending next season on loan at Crystal Palace.

Bamford said: ‘I’m delighted to sign a new contract with Chelsea. My dream has always been to be part of this club for the long term. Chelsea have been fantastic with my development and joining Crystal Palace for this season on loan is the next step for me in my career.’

Bamford, who scored 19 times for Middlesbrough on his way to being voted Championship Player of the Year last season, signed for Chelsea in early 2012.

He is an England Under-21 international but missed out on the summer’s European Championships due to injury.

Palace finished 10th in last season’s Premier League, and begin the 2015/16 campaign with a trip to newly promoted Norwich City.
