Away tie in Capital One Cup draw

The defence of the Capital One Cup will begin with an away game against Walsall.

The third-round draw took place on Tuesday evening, with our match against the League One side to take place on either Tuesday 22 or Wednesday 23 September.

Six of the 11 meetings between the clubs have been in this competition - comprising three two-legged ties which were all won by Chelsea, the most recent in 1992 when Robert Fleck, Dennis Wise, Eddie Newton and Andy Townsend scored in 4-0 aggregate victory. Former Chelsea FA Youth Cup-winner Milan Lalkovic is in the current Walsall squad. They are second in their division after four games.
