Ladies trio set skills challenge

It’s International Women’s Day on Tuesday 8 March and to celebrate Chelsea Ladies have teamed up with our global charity partner Plan International.

To mark the day, we’re giving aspiring female footballers across the country the chance to win a signed Chelsea Ladies’ shirt and a personalised video message from the squad on International Women’s Day.

How to win? Simple – show us your football skills and send us a clip. Whether you play every week or have never kicked a ball before, we want to see what you’ve got. Upload your video to your social media platform of choice and use the hashtag #becauseiamagirl.

Chelsea Ladies trio Fran Kirby, Gemma Davison and Karen Carney have already had their turn and now they want to see yours via any of our social media channels.

The closing date for the competition will be International Women’s Day itself with Fran, Gemma and Karen announcing the winner the following week.

Chelsea and Plan International are working together to help transform the lives of thousands of children through the reach and power of football. And a big part of our partnership is promoting equality between boys and girls, men and women, in support of Plan’s global Because I am a Girl campaign.

In Colombia, we’re working together to teach young men and women about equality, respect and tolerance, and combatting stereotypes about what boys and girls can do.

Plan International uses football across the world to help girls feel confident and able to have their say in their community. Projects like these are proven to help them stay in school longer and not marry too young.
