Summer visit to United States announced

Chelsea Football Club will once again travel to America this summer as we take part in the International Champions Cup.

The Blues are among 10 clubs playing in the tournament, with the line-up revealed at a press conference in New York today.

The competition will provide excellent preparation for the 2016/17 campaign and each of our matches will be shown exclusively live on Chelsea TV.

We begin the tournament by playing Premier League rivals Liverpool on Wednesday 27 July in Los Angeles, and finish by facing AC Milan at the brand new US Bank Stadium (pictured above) in Minneapolis a week later, with a fixture against Real Madrid on Saturday 30 July at a venue soon to be revealed.

The full list of clubs participating in this season’s International Champions Cup is:

AC Milan
Bayern Munich
Inter Milan
Leicester City
Paris Saint-Germain
Real Madrid

Chelsea FC Chairman Bruce Buck said: ‘It gives us great pleasure to know we will be testing ourselves at the highest level this summer and I am sure the squad will benefit from the excellent facilities available to us across the United States. We have always found the support shown to the club by our American fans to be passionate and positive and cannot wait to see them once more.

‘Additionally, by taking Chelsea Foundation coaches and staff with us we will also look to make a positive and lasting impact in those communities we visit. This is a priority for us.’

Our match with Liverpool sees us return to Pasadena’s Rose Bowl Stadium (pictured below) where we beat Inter 2-0 in a friendly in 2009. The Rose Bowl was the venue of the 1994 World Cup final and has a capacity of 92,542.

We last met Real Madrid in Miami in the summer of 2013 and we cross paths once more at the end of July just three days after meeting the Reds.

The tour concludes when we open the brand new US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. It is a 73,000-capacity venue, which will become the new home of the Minnesota Vikings NFL team. It is also due to host the Super Bowl in 2018.

Fans can sign up now for early access to tour match tickets, with Liverpool available from 29 March and AC Milan from 5 April. To sign up and for full information go to

All our summer tour matches will also be live and exclusive on Chelsea TV in the UK and Ireland, with all the action and highlights available to view online around the world.
