Chelsea trio in initial Spain selection

Cesc Fabregas, Cesar Azpilicueta and Pedro have been named in Vicente del Bosque's provisional 25-man squad for this summer's European Championships.

Fabregas has helped Spain win the past two editions of the tournament, in 2008 and 2012, with Pedro also involved in the latter of those successes. It would be Azpilicueta's first appearance for his country on the continental stage, though he was a member of Spain's 2014 World Cup squad.

Diego Costa is not selected. Del Bosque will need to omit two players from his initial list by the 31 May deadline.

The holders are in a group with Turkey, Croatia and Czech Republic. Their tournament starts against the Czechs on Monday 13 June in the southern French city of Toulouse.
