Youngsters sign professional deals

Six youngsters from our Academy have signed their first professional contracts as they prepare to begin their second full-time season at the club.

Our development teams returned to pre-season training this week and will fly to Germany on Monday for a seven-day training camp. The Under-21s face an Under-23 side from FC Nurnberg and the youth team face Bayern Munich, with both games taking place on Sunday 10 July.

The half-dozen new professionals are Nathan Baxter, Trevoh Chalobah, Joseph Colley, Cole Dasilva, Harvey St Clair and Malakai Hinckson-Mars.

Goalkeeper Baxter played every minute of our successful FA Youth Cup campaign and defender Trevoh Chalobah started all eight Cup ties. Along with Colley, they also picked up UEFA Youth League winners medals last term.

Chalobah and Colley have committed themselves to the club until the end of the 2018/19 campaign. Baxter, Hinckson-Mars and St Clair have penned two-year deals, while Dasilva signs until the end of 2016/17.

Meanwhile, Reece Mitchell has today (Wednesday) made a permanent move to League One Chesterfield. The 20-year-old forward spent nine years in the Chelsea Academy, winning the FA Youth Cup in 2011/12 and the Under-21 Premier League title in 2013/14. The former England Under-16 international was out of contract at the end of the month and has agreed a two-year deal with the Spireites.
