Blues launch AR game in front of China delegation

Chelsea Football Club today (Monday) launched the world’s first augmented reality football game at the UK-China Creative Innovators Forum in Shanghai.

The Chelsea Kicker game was officially unveiled in front of a UK delegation headed by Culture, Media and Sport Minister Karen Bradley, with the Blues the only football club represented among the 30 British companies. The event has seen discussions and presentations on how the virtual reality and augmented reality sectors are rapidly reshaping the entertainment world.

Chelsea Kicker allows fans to bring Antonio Conte’s squad into homes, offices, schools, or just about anywhere, practising skills and challenging friends as you go.

Its launch highlights the club’s focus on innovation and commitment to drive new and engaging experiences for our global fanbase. Augmented Reality offers a tremendous opportunity to delight and surprise fans with the club pleased to be leading the application of AR within sport.

Chelsea Kicker will be available exclusively on Lenovo’s Phab 2 Pro smartphone, the Phab 2 Pro is the world's first smartphone to include Tango—a new technology from Google that enables augmented reality (AR) gaming and utilities. Find it in the Google Play store now...
