ON A TYPICAL DAY, WHAT TIME DO YOU GET TO COBHAM, AND WHAT DO YOU DO BEFORE TRAINING BEGINS?
Normally I come in a bit early, around 8.30am. I have my breakfast and go and get my massage. I spend a lot of time there to get the muscles going. After that, I just relax really and watch TV before training.
WHAT DO YOU HAVE FOR BREAKFAST?
Scrambled eggs and bread.
DO YOU ALWAYS WEAR THE SAME KIT?
Training kit! Always shorts, but when it’s cold I do wear skins underneath to get myself warm. I wear gloves and a hat too when it’s cold.
WHAT ARE YOUR IDEAL TRAINING CONDITIONS?
Blues skies, not too hot. No rain.
HOW MANY PAIRS OF BOOTS DO YOU GET THROUGH IN A SEASON?
Eight or nine. I wear them in training first to make sure they’re alright, and then wear them in a game.
WHAT DO YOU DO AFTER TRAINING? ANY YOGA OR MASSAGES?
Back to the treatment room again. Get a massage and then go in the pool to do some stretches just to cool down. Then I go in the hot bath and do some stretches in there too. Sometimes I go to the gym as well, but not all the time.
WHAT DO YOU NORMALLY EAT FOR LUNCH?
Pasta and chicken with some vegetables. After that, I get in my car and go home!
