Jake Clarke-Salter has today joined Sunderland on loan until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old, an FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League-winner during his time in the Chelsea Academy, moves to Wearside for what will be his first Championship loan.
A powerful central defender who is comfortable in possession, Clarke-Salter made his debut for the Blues in a 4-0 win at Aston Villa in 2016.
He spent last season on loan at League One side Bristol Rovers before playing four games, including the final, as England Under-20s won the FIFA World Cup for that age group in the summer.
In November Clarke-Salter, who has represented England since Under-18 level, earned his first call-up for the Under-21s.
He came on in the second half of our Carabao Cup win over Nottingham Forest and was named among the substitutes for our 0-0 FA Cup draw at Norwich on Saturday.
