Lifting the Lid: Davide Zappacosta

Davide Zappacosta provides some behind-the-scenes information on his team-mates in the latest instalment of this feature.

The Italian tells us which defender would make a good striker and which players are the biggest jokers in the dressing room, as well as answering a question posed by one of his team-mates.

Who has been the best player in training recently?

The best player in training is Eden Hazard. He’s almost unstoppable, especially for the defenders when you have to mark him. It’s a hard job because he’s very quick and he has excellent quality, so it’s not simple to stop him.

Of the outfield players, who would make the best goalkeeper?

This is a very hard question. I think maybe Toni Rudiger because he’s a big guy.

Of the defenders, who would make the best striker?

Definitely Marcos Alonso.

Who do you sit with on away trips? What do you do to pass the time?

I usually sit with Alvaro but it just depends. Normally I’m with Alvaro and close to Marcos and the other Spanish players. Usually I just watch movies or TV shows, that’s it really.

After a bad result who is good at lifting morale?

I think we have a lot of experienced players, such as David Luiz, Azpilicueta, Fabregas and Cahill. They are most important players when we lose a game because they make sure we keep the concentration levels up.

Who is the biggest joker?

Alvaro. He always makes stupid jokes which make you laugh.

Who is the quietest?

Definitely N’Golo Kante.

Who is the loudest?

We have a lot of players who enjoy laughing, David and Rudiger especially, Alvaro and Marcos as well.

Who is good at free-kicks we might not know about?

Ross Barkley is very good at free-kicks.

Who is the most active on social media?

I don’t know, that’s a hard one. There are a few but when it comes to Instagram Stories maybe Willian.

Which player should the fans follow on social media?

David Luiz, of course.

Who was the quickest to learn English?

I think Alvaro.

And the question from Mateo Kovacic...

Who, in your opinion, is the best player in the squad?

That's too simple, Eden Hazard (laughs).
