We have history

Chelsea have never previously played any team in Belarus, either in European competition or friendlies. BATE are the 80th club the Blues have faced in Europe from the 31st different country.

Our only previous encounter with BATE was a fortnight ago, with young homegrown Ruben Loftus-Cheek taking most of the plaudits. Watch the highlights of that 3-1 victory here.

BLUE NOTES

Charlie Cooke-inspired Chelsea were 6-0 victors over Jimmy Armfield’s Bolton in a League Cup round-four replay at Burnden Park on 8 November 1971. The hat-trick hero was Tommy Baldwin, with Cooke (pictured below) opening the scoring, and John Hollins grabbing two.
