Free ticket for troops at Women's game

In honour of Remembrance Day this weekend, members of the Armed Forces are invited to watch Chelsea Women take on Yeovil Town free of charge next Sunday.

The Women’s Super League champions are not in action this weekend, with our next game coming at Kingsmeadow a week on Sunday, so we have teamed up with the Royal British Legion and Tickets for Troops to offer service personnel and a guest free entry to the match.

Emma Hayes’ side sit fourth in the FA Women’s Super League, with work to do to catch leaders Arsenal, making the meeting against second-bottom Yeovil a must-win encounter, with a strong home support needed to help inspire the Blues to victory.

‘Women and men are risking their lives every day and Tickets for Troops is a very simple way of respecting and recognising their bravery, courage and sacrifice.
‘As aclubwe are proud of the support we give to our Armed Forces who do amazing work for which all of us at Chelsea remain very grateful.

Alex Owen, head of Armed Forces engagement at the Royal British Legion, pointed out the important role of women during the First World War, which ended 100 years ago this Sunday.

‘This year, the Royal British Legion is asking the nation to thank the generation who served, sacrificed and changed our world during the First World War. Women are at the heart of this and their contribution during the war was felt from the field hospital to the munitions factory to the football ground.

‘In this Armistice Centenary year, it is wonderful that Chelsea FC Women are offering this opportunity to our armed forces to thank the remarkable generation that played 100 years ago in their place. We look forward to a fantastic sporting spectacle and wish both teams the best of luck.’

Will Campbell-Lamerton, director of operations at Tickets for Troops, added: ‘We are delighted that Chelsea Women are now supporting Tickets For Troops. It is a great opportunity for us to offer world-class women’s football and for our members to see the current WSL champions in action.’
