Lifting the Lid: Emerson

Our left-back Emerson Palmieri is the latest member of the squad to give some behind-the-scenes detail on his team-mates and himself, and answer a question left by the previous player to feature...

The left-back singles out a funny compatriot, details what he gets up to en route to away games, and reveals a love of reggaeton...

Who has been the best player in training lately?

It’s hard because everybody trains really well and with a lot of commitment, but I would say Pedro.

Of the outfield players, who would also make a good goalkeeper?

Gary Cahill I think!

Of the defenders, who would make the best striker?

David Luiz. He is very technical and has good feet so he would make a good striker.

Who do you sit with on away trips? What do you do to pass the time?

We sit on a table with four seats around it with David Luiz, Willian and Jorginho. We pass the time playing Nintendo Switch, games like Mario Kart and Fortnite.

Who is good at lifting morale after a bad result?

There are really good leaders in this team, for example David Luiz, Rudiger and Azpilicueta. They lift our spirits.

Who is the biggest joker in the dressing room?

There are quite a few! It’s hard to say. I’ll go for Willian.

Who is the quietest?

Ross Barkley.

Who is the loudest?

Rudiger definitely!

Who is good at free-kicks in training that we might not know about?

Ross is very good.

Who is the most active on Instagram?

There are two: Rudiger and Morata.

Which player should the fans follow on social media?

A lot of the players just put stuff up related to football, but I think Cesc Fabregas puts things up about his family, his life and his daughters, so I would say him.

If you could book any musical act to play at Under the Bridge, who would it be, and which players would you try to convince to come with you?

J Balvin, who is a Colombian reggaeton singer, and I would take Jorginho with me. He likes reggaeton too!

And the question from Mateo Kovacic – what is your biggest fear?

To injury myself seriously another time because I already had a serious injury in the past.
