Today is the 20th anniversary of Chelsea’s Cup Winners’ Cup triumph in Stockholm, and a podcast featuring words from many of the stars of 1998 remembering that fantastic year is now available to download.
The Blues picked up three trophies in under six months shortly after Gianluca Vialli replaced Ruud Gullit as player-manager, and the Italian will be back in charge of a Chelsea Legends team facing Inter Forever at Stamford Bridge on Friday night, with tickets for that match still available to buy.
The Cup Kings of ’98 is a one-off podcast released to mark the passing of two decades since a great achievement in Chelsea’s illustrious history. It hears exclusively from six integral members of that side: captain Dennis Wise, final goalscorers Gianfranco Zola and Frank Sinclair, Eddie Newton, Tore Andre Flo and Graeme Le Saux.
They tell a story that will never get old, and between them explain what made Chelsea’s class of ’98 so successful, so popular, and, ultimately, so memorable.
The podcast is completely free and can be downloaded on iTunes Podcasts and various other podcast apps. Simply search for The Cup Kings of '98. You can also listen to it on SoundCloud.
