The versatile defender, 18, was a key figure as we won consecutive FA Youth Cups in 2017 and 2018, and has also won the National Under-18s Premier League during his time in our Academy. He was named our Academy Player of the Year for last season.

On the international stage James helped England win the Toulon Tournament in 2017, impressing to such an extent he was named in the team of the competition.

James will now continue his development with Wigan, who won promotion last season as League One champions.
