Players moving on

With some player contracts completed at the end of June, we list some names leaving and confirm a farewell to a member of the backroom fitness staff.

Goalkeeper, Matej Delac (pictured below), who spent his time as a Chelsea player on loan, is departing. He is joining Danish club AC Horsens.

Wallace, who joined in 2013 and whose most recent loan was at Gremio back in his homeland of Brazil, is also leaving.

Chelsea Football Club thanks them for their service and wishes them all the best for the future.

Several players who came through our Academy are moving on this summer. Mitchell Beeney (pictured below), a Youth Cup winner in 2014, is joining League of Ireland Premier Division side Sligo Rovers on the expiry of his Chelsea contract. The goalkeeper has been on loan with the Irish side since February. Winger Harvey St Clair is moving to Venezia in Italy’s Serie B.

Also departing are Isaac Christie-Davies, Cole Dasilva, Jordan Houghton and Tushaun Walters.

Head of youth development Neil Bath says: ‘It’s always difficult for players to move on because many of them have spent so many years with us in the Academy but I’m sure they will all go on to find clubs and continue their careers. I hope we’ve played our part in their development, both as footballers and as people, and we wish them all the best for the future. They know Chelsea is always here for them.’

From the staff, fitness coach Chris Jones is leaving to join Derby County where he will be a first team coach. He will be splitting his time between Chelsea and Derby until the start of the season.

Jones has been an important member of our backroom team since 2006. He began with the Academy and reserve teams before moving up to work with the senior squad upon Carlo Ancelotti's arrival in 2009. At Derby, he will be working with their new manager Frank Lampard and assistant Jody Morris.
We thank Chris for his 12 years of service at Chelsea and the part he has played in helping to win trophies in that time. We wish him well for the future.
