The Data Day: Blues stifled

We take a statistical look at yesterday’s stalemate...

Of our 17 attempts yesterday, six were on target, six off and the remaining five blocked. Olivier Giroud, Willian and N’Golo Kante had five efforts apiece.

We completed 663 of our 757 attempted passes, equating to an 88 per cent success rate. We had a 72 per cent share of possession.

Jorginho had 191 touches of the ball, attempted 180 passes and completed 162 of them. Among those were three key passes. Willian made six.

Each side completed seven dribbles, with Brazilians Willian and Felipe Anderson recording a joint game-high three apiece.

Twenty aerial duels were contested and each side won 10, with David Luiz registering the most for us with three. Olivier Giroud and N’Golo Kante won two each.

West Ham won 22 tackles to our eight. Willian was our top tackler, successful with all three of the challenges he went in for. Our hosts completed 45 clearances and made 14 interceptions, highlighting how they were able to stifle us in the final third.

We were dispossessed on 11 occasions, including Eden Hazard six times.
