Chelsea launch short story competition as part of World Book Day

Chelsea Football Club and Junior Blues are celebrating World Book Day today with an exciting short story competition to announce!

We are launching a competition for our young fans aged between four and 13 with some incredible once-in-a-lifetime prizes up for grabs, including a VIP matchday experience at Stamford Bridge.

All you need to do to enter is submit your own short story, no longer than 300 words, featuring our club mascots, Stamford and Bridget. You have until 7 April to submit your entry, so get writing!

Our panel of judges, including Chelsea fan, comedian and best-selling children’s author David Baddiel, will then be on hand to pick two age-group winners to come to Stamford Bridge, meet some of the players and see the team in action!

If you’re looking for inspiration, then you’ll find some useful story tips from world-famous author of The Gruffalo, Julia Donaldson, over on the brand-new Junior Blues website. There, you will also find some more story prompts, videos and competition rules.

To get you in the mood on World Book Day, we have been asking some of the Chelsea stars which books they enjoyed reading when they were growing up!
