Lifting the Lid: Callum Hudson-Odoi

Callum Hudson-Odoi is the latest player to provide some behind-the scenes insights into his team-mates and life at Chelsea, including a list of unsung set-piece takers, a quiet man who can speak up and a couple of social media enthusiasts…

Who has been the best player in training lately?

N’Golo, he’s always working hard and keeping a high standard.

Of the outfield players, who would make a good goalkeeper?

I’d say David Luiz because he has a good ping on him, left and right foot, so his distribution would be great, and he likes to jump around a lot so he would be good in goal.

Of the defenders, who would make the best striker?

Rudi. He likes to win headers and he loves kicking the ball so I think he will get a goal for us.

Who is good at free-kicks in training that we might not know about?

Maybe myself, I’ve taken a couple and done well with them. But Emerson as well, he has great technique. I’d also say Kovacic, I’ve seen him bend them around the wall into the top corner.

Who is the biggest joker in the dressing room?

Me and Toni. He’s always dancing in the changing room and really lively. I also like to have a laugh and joke as well.

Who is the loudest?

Ethan. He loves a chat. Every second he’s saying something, even when there’s nothing to talk about.

Who is the quietest?

It is N’Golo a lot of the time but he can be loud as well when you get him to talk.

Who do you sit with on away trips? What do you do to pass the time?

Andreas, Ruben and Ethan, the young boys. We normally watch Netflix, listen to music or talk in general, about the upcoming game, just to try and enjoy ourselves and not have a boring journey.

Who is good at lifting morale after a bad result?

We have a lot of players who do that: Rudi, David, sometimes Olivier. Willy Caballero as well. He tries to bring spirits back up.

Who is the most active on social media?

Willian. He thinks I don’t see him but I do. He loves putting a post out. I’d say him or Jorginho.

If you could watch any musical act at Under the Bridge, who would it be, and which players would you try to convince to come with you?

I guess most people would probably say Drake because he has so many good songs, he’s a great musician. I’d get all the young boys along because I know they like that type of music.

Callum also answers a question posed by team-mate Ethan Amapdu, who was the most recent player to take part in this feature.

Which other member of the team’s hairstyle would you have?

Not his, no way! I’d go for either Ruben or Toni because it’s short and matured, looks tidy. And they both have waves on top so it looks good.
