Callum Hudson-Odoi’s impressive season continues with a first call-up to the England Under-21 squad ahead of friendlies against Poland and Germany later this month.
The teenage forward has made 16 appearances for Maurizio Sarri’s side this term, scoring three Europa League goals and once in the FA Cup victory over Sheffield Wednesday.
He has represented England from Under-16 to Under-19 level, most notably at the Under-17 World Cup in 2017 when the young Lions went all the way and lifted the trophy in India. Hudson-Odoi featured in every game at the tournament and assisted three goals in the final against Spain. It capped a glittering year for the youngster in which he also helped our Under-18s win the FA Youth Cup and Under-18 Premier League, before retaining both titles the following season.
The 18-year-old will be joined by fellow Chelsea Academy graduates Tammy Abraham, Jay Dasilva, Jake Clarke-Salter and Fikayo Tomori, who all retain their places in the squad following friendly wins over Italy and Denmark in November.
Aidy Boothroyd’s side are preparing for the Under-21 European Championship finals, which take place in Italy and San Marino in June. They have been drawn in Group C alongside France, Romania and Croatia.
Bristol City’s Ashton Gate hosts the meeting with Poland on Thursday 21 March before Germany are the visitors to the Vitality Stadium in Bournemouth five days later. You can keep tabs on how all our internationals get on during the upcoming break right here on the official Chelsea website.
