Toni Rudiger an unused substitute as Germany held by Serbia

Antonio Rudiger was an unused substitute as Germany were held to a 1-1 draw by Serbia, as the international period of fixtures got underway this evening.

The Chelsea defender watched on from the bench as his side came from behind to share the spoils with Serbia, with Leon Goretzka cancelling out Luka Jovic’s opener. Serbia ended the game with 10 men, after Milan Pavkov was sent off in injury time.

The friendly was played at Wolfsburg’s Volkswagen Arena, with Rudiger hoping to feature for Joachim Low’s side on Sunday when the Germans face old rivals Holland in Amsterdam in a Euro 2020 qualifier.

Ethan Ampadu withdrew from the Wales squad through injury earlier this week, so he was absent from their 1-0 friendly win over Trinidad & Tobago in Wrexham this evening, with Ben Woodburn hitting an injury time winner. Ampadu will also miss Sunday’s Euro 2020 home qualifier with Slovakia.

Eden Hazard, Mateo Kovacic and Andreas Christensen will all hope to feature for Belgium, Croatia and Denmark respectively tomorrow, with Hazard and Kovacic closing in on landmark caps for their nations.

Belgium take on Russia in a Euro 2020 qualifier, with Croatia also in qualification action against Azerbaijan. Denmark travel to Kosovo in a friendly.

Earlier today, a number of Chelsea youngsters were involved at youth level for their respective countries, with Conor Gallagher scoring for England Under-19s as the young Lions defeated their Czech Republic counterparts 4-1 at St George’s Park.

The midfielder impressed in a central role for Keith Downing’s side alongside Wolves’ Morgan Gibbs-White and his goal capped off his performance. A full round-up of how our younger players performed can be found here.
