Chelsea Women goalkeeper Carly Telford believes two of the best teams in the world will be going head-to-head when the Blues host Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League tomorrow (Thursday).
Kingsmeadow is the venue for the first leg of our quarter-final tie in Europe's premier club competition, kick-off 7.05pm, with tickets still available to see Emma Hayes' side take on the French giants as we look to seize the initiative in a tie which concludes in Paris next Wednesday.
The magnitude of the occasion has certainly not been lost on Telford, who made her debut in the competition earlier this season at the age of 31. She will be hoping to be between the sticks after keeping her ninth clean sheet of the campaign in our FA Cup win over Durham on Sunday.
'This game is absolutely huge,' said the England international. 'This is a competition every kid watches and wants to play a part in when they grow up.
'We're welcoming one of the biggest clubs in the world to London, but we're in that category as well. It's going to be a fantastic tie, I'm sure.
'A lot of their fans will travel, it's going to be a big spectacle and we've got some of the best supporters in Europe so they're going to cheer us on.
'They travel all over with us, singing for the full 90 minutes, and you've got a group who have come to Durham after leaving at 4am to get the coach. That's dedication from them and it's such a privilege for us to stay out after the game to say thank you to them. It means the world to us. Thankfully we've got them to one semi-final and now I hope we can get them to another.'
- It has been announced that the kick-off time for Chelsea Women’s FA Cup semi-final away at Manchester City on Sunday 14 April is 5.30pm. The game will be shown live on BBC2.
