Our Academy Player of the Season last year has played in each one of Wigan’s league games this campaign, appearing in defence as well as midfield. He has scored with a free-kick against Leeds United.

At Chelsea, James captained an FA Youth Cup-winning side amongst other trophies collected with our Academy sides and he signed a new four-year contract last summer.

He played last night for England Under-20s and was given the chance to join in recently with training for the England senior squad.

The EFL Teams of the Season for the various divisions have been named ahead of their annual awards with a selection for the best team throughout the Championship, League One and League Two to be announced on the night of those awards next month.
