Key statistics from Chelsea v Brighton: Callum Hudson-Odoi and Eden Hazard among those to shine

We take a look at the key stats from Chelsea’s win over Brighton last night, which highlight our dominance thanks to crucial contributions in defence, midfield and attack…

We had 17 shots to Brighton’s three. Of our attempts, four were on target, eight off and five blocked.

Olivier Giroud had a game-high five attempts. Eden Hazard registered three.

The Seagulls’ solitary shot on-target came in the 80th minute. We also restricted them to one corner.

The Blues had 68.3 per cent of the possession. Jorginho was on the ball almost twice as often as the next player, Andreas Christensen, with Callum Hudson-Odoi and Hazard also featuring in the top five.

Jorginho completed 152 of his 161 passes – an impressive 94 per cent completion rate.

Centre-backs Christensen (75) and David Luiz (66) were next on the list for accurate passes. Ruben Loftus-Cheek only misplaced four of his 69 passes all night.

When it came to key passes, Hudson-Odoi recorded a game-high four. Hazard made three, and Jorginho and N’Golo Kante two apiece.

Overall we completed 685 of our 751 passes, equating to a 91 pass success rate.

Hazard’s five successful dribbles out of six attempted was one more than the next best player in that department, Brighton’s Yves Bissouma.

The Belgian has been directly involved in 16 of Chelsea’s 32 Premier League goals at Stamford Bridge this season (nine goals, seven assists), over twice that of anyone at the club.

David Luiz won a game-high six aerial duels at an impressive 86 per cent success rate. The Brazilian also made three clearances, a Chelsea-high figure, and came out on top from every tackle he went in for.

Our top tacklers on the night were Christensen and Kante, who won four apiece. Maurizio Sarri praised Hudson-Odoi’s defensive work last night and the 18-year-old was successful with three tackles, the same number as Emerson Palmieri.

The left-back, along with Jorginho, also made two interceptions, a Chelsea-high figure.
