Excellent Eden Hazard discusses his sensational goal as Chelsea beat West Ham

Two-goal Eden Hazard praised the team’s display on Monday night despite his own demonstration of world-class talent at Stamford Bridge.

The Belgian hit the net in either half, first with an unbelievable solo effort that took him past five West Ham defenders, before rounding off our victory with a well-taken finish after Ross Barkley had set him up at the death.

After the match, Hazard was keen to focus on the collective before discussing his wonder strike.

‘I think we played a great game,’ said the 28-year-old. ‘It was not so easy because West Ham have top players and created a bit of a problem for us but in the end we did everything. We didn’t concede a goal, we scored two great goals so I’m very happy with what we’ve done today.

‘Now we have good momentum. We are winning three games in a row, for mentality it’s good to keep going like that. Top four is our target, Europa League is our target so we need to do well in both and we can do it.’

Hazard also responded when asked about West Ham fans singing about him joining Real Madrid.

‘They are wrong,’ he said. ‘Now, I am just focused with Chelsea until the end of the season. I just want to finish top four, Europa League, we still have a lot to do and then we will see.’

As for his goal, it was up there with some of his very best in a Chelsea shirt and was the standout moment of a dazzling performance that few talents have ever matched in the Premier League.

‘Something special!’ he laughed afterwards. ‘It’s just something special. I took the ball, when I could go forward I tried to go forward and in the box it’s hard for the defender to touch me, because maybe it’s a penalty. I was a bit lucky in the end when I shot but it was a good goal to be fair. I just wanted to shoot quick and when I saw the ball in the net I was just happy.

‘I am small so for me it’s quite good. When I play against a tall guy for them it’s very hard to change direction but that’s my own quality and I’m happy to have this.’
