Blues train ahead of flight to Frankfurt

Chelsea trained at Cobham on Wednesday morning ahead of the flight to Germany for our Europa League semi-final against Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday night.

From those who featured in our quarter-final victory over Slavia Prague last month, Antonio Rudiger and Callum Hudson-Odoi were the only absentees after recently undergoing surgery on Achilles and knee issues respectively.

Like Rudiger, Willian limped off in our last outing at Old Trafford following a heavy challenge by Marcos Rojo, though the Brazilian was back for the final session before our visit to the side currently fourth in the Bundesliga. Sarri had reported in the aftermath of our 1-1 draw in Manchester: 'Willian is in trouble at the moment but I think it's only a knock so we can try to recover him.'

The Blues are top scorers in this season's Europa League and Olivier Giroud currently accounts for a third of our goals in the competition (10 out of 30). The Frenchman has started throughout our run to the last four and will be hoping to retain his place up front for our trip to the Commerzbank Arena.

As is the norm for UEFA competition matches, the first 15 minutes of the training session were open to the outside media. Later today, the team will fly out to Germany before Maurizio Sarri and one of his players will preview the semi-final first leg tie at the pre-match media conference. This takes place at 5.45pm UK time.
