The Chelsea Academy summer schedule will begin with a trip to Portugal to take on Portimonense in the first week of July, while our youngsters will also face Lechia Gdansk, Glasgow Rangers and Bayern Munich as part of their pre-season programme.

A training camp in the Portuguese Algarve marks the start of preparations for the 2019/20 season for our development squad, who then return home for fixtures against Swansea City, Poole Town, Newport County and Sutton United.

The visit to Rodney Parade in south Wales will mark a benefit game for Fraser Franks, the former Chelsea Academy defender who played for Newport this season. The 28-year-old was forced to retire from playing football in March on medical advice because of a heart problem.
